#Brightness button not working windows 10 install

I have tried the troubleshooting mentioned by another user on here a few years ago: You Can check And install latest updates from Settings ( Windows + I ) -> Update & Security -> windows update -> And check for updates. All 3 are the latest versions, I have cleared the caches etc. This is the case across various browsers - Chrome, Edge and Firefox. F11 and F12 bring up different screens whilst F1 opens another tab. I have tried all the available solution on web such as updating/reinstalling display driver, Switch to microsoft basic display adopter etc. I m not able to change the display brightness. I would typically be able to control the volume/mute and also change the brightness just by pressing the buttons F1, F11/F12 without having to use the function button but since this week, they don't seem to work at all, pressing the function button doesn't work, either.
